GED Corcoran has left his role as York Knights assistant coach to "seek new opportunities in the game".

His next destination seems set to be Championship rivals Featherstone Rovers, with reports suggesting that he will replace former Knights boss James Ford, whose exit from the West Yorkshire club was confirmed on Wednesday lunchtime.

There, he would reunite with former Knights assistant Paul Cooke, who made the move to Post Office Road during the off-season.

York confirmed Corcoran's departure in a club statement on Thursday morning.

It read: "Ged Corcoran leaves his role as Assistant Coach to seek new opportunities within the game.

"We wish Ged all the best and thank him for his time at the Knights!"

The 41-year-old first joined the Knights ahead of the 2023 season after a stint with Sheffield Eagles, a role he combined with that of Ireland head coach.

He led the Wolfhounds to their biggest ever Rugby League World Cup victory, a 48-2 win against Jamaica in October 2022, and more recently, to a 36-6 triumph over Scotland at the end of last year.

Corcoran also had notable influence in York's off-season recruitment, bringing Irish youngsters James Farrar and Jack Brown to the club.
